Succ It Up – Succulents, Plants & Gifts
I’m a sucker for succulents! (Pun intended.) I do not have a green thumb; However, I have had amazing luck with succulent plants. A succulent is any plant that stores water in their stems, roots, or engorged, juicy leaves. They are resilient and beautiful. I actually enjoy the propagation process, it’s mesmerizing and every succulent is unique in their own way.
If you do not already have one of these divine plants or you just need to add to your plant family, my advice is to check out Succ It Up – Succulents, Plants and Gifts which is owned and operated by Grace Jancsek. Tiffany: Where are you located?
Grace: Online and Oxford, AL
Tiffany: What made you decide to start your business?
Grace: I have always loved plants, particularly succulents. I’ve grown them for years and they began to overtake my porch. A friend suggested I start selling them at markets and the business has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year! I love bringing people joy through plants and custom plant “creations”. My husband, Chip, and I have always talked about having our own business and we are well on our way. We love working together and we can see ourselves doing this the rest of our lives!

Tiffany: Where do you see your business in 5 years (goals)?
Grace: Our goal is to have a plant “boutique” that offers succulents and plants that you can’t always find at your local garden center, as well as high-quality plants that are well maintained. We want it to be a place where plant lovers can come for workshops, gifts, and enjoy hanging out. We’d also like to offer plant supplies and containers. In addition, we like to include “plant hunting” as a service to our customers. We will help you find that elusive plant you’ve been looking for. We would also continue offer pot filling services; If you have a pot that needs a plant, we will fill it for you. We also enjoy educating people on plant care so their plants can live their best lives!
Tiffany: Who are you besides business owner?
Grace: I’m a wife, mother to 3 teenagers, vegetarian, fitness buff, crazy cat lady, art lover, and introvert.

Tiffany: What are you most proud of in your life?
Grace: I am most proud of my family and how far we’ve come in life. It hasn’t always been easy but, my husband and I have raised some great kids that continually amaze us. We’ve been through hard times but, we’ve come through it stronger and happier than ever. I’m also proud to have stepped out into this business venture. Getting out of my comfort zone is extremely hard for me. I don’t know that I would have been able to do without my husband, my biggest cheerleader.
Tiffany: Is there anything else you would like to add to your Small Business Spotlight?
Grace: I would just like to say how much we love plant people and the communities we’ve had the privilege to be a part of. We enjoy all the people we meet at the markets and events, whether they are customers or vendors. We believe all people should be treated with kindness and we strive to show that love to everyone.

Grace and Chip love what they do and they have so much positive energy, you just want to hang out with them all day at the markets. You will want to take home one of their well-nurtured and loved plant babies. Check them out and let me know your favorite plant! Cheers!
